10 Things to Pack For Coworking

10 Things to Pack for Coworking

You have done your research and are ready to take the dive into coworking- Congrats!

Now what? You probably feel like the new kid walking in to a new school  with no idea what to expect. We want to help you feel prepared and know what to expect.

Be sure to read our Coworking Etiquette and Courtesy Guidelines to get started.

Here are a few things to help you feel that you are prepared for your first coworking day.

What to Bring:

If you tend to be an overpacked that wants to be prepared for any situation or you are a fly by the seat of your pants kind of person, you will appreciate this list.

  1. Computer, tablet, and phone and charger
We are making an assumption that you rely heavily on your devices and you will want them to stay charged as you crank out work! Courtesy Alert: Be sure to put your phone on silent or very low so ringing does not disturb your coworkers.
  2. Headphone
Whether you are a person who like to listen to music or podcasts while you work, need to watch how to youtube videos to figure out what the heck you are doing, or or to make quick phone calls, headphones are a necessity when coworking. Courtesy Alert: Always use headphones when listening to anything and never use your speaker.
  3. Water Bottle
It’s important to stay hydrated while you work and we provide a PUR filter for water to fill up your water bottle. Forgot your water bottle? No sweat- we provide bottled water for a small charge.
  4. Snacks
We don’t want anyone getting “hangry” while they work, so pack a few snacks to help get you through the day. Your brain will need the extra energy from all that high-focused work you will be doing. We also have some snack choices available for purchase. Courtesy Alert: Be aware of  strong smelling or loud crunching foods if a coworker is close enough to smell or hear it.
  5. Business cards
One of the best things about being a coworker is getting to meet new people until they become the coworkers you recognize. You never know when you will meet someone that could do business with you, so make sure to always have a few business cards with you.
  6. A Sweater or Light Jacket
I realize we are in Tennessee, but even in the summer we suggest having a sweater or light jacket available even if you leave it in your car.  Air conditioning can cause some rooms to become extra chilly, so if you get cold easily, it is better to be safe than sorry. I always have one as I get cold easily in air conditioning.
  7. Notebook and Pens
Even in a digital age, notebook and pens will never go out of style or demand.
  8. Lunch or money to eat out
If you bring your lunch from home, which offers great cost and time savings, be mindful about the food you microwave and eat in shared areas. Some people are more sensitive to strong smells than others- I know I am unfortunately. You can always have food delivered as well to your coworker space, just be sure you are at the door to greet them as not to disturb your other coworkers.
  9. Toothbrush and Toothpaste
Ok, so I know that can sound kind of weird, but trust me. You don’t want to have a client meeting with your lunch still stuck in your teeth or with strong coffee breath. Courtesy Alert: Be sure to wipe up your toothpaste “spit” in our shared restroom sinks and off the mirror.
  10. Mints and Gum
    See reasons in #9.

That’s it! You are ready for your first day of coworking.
